5 LESSONS MY PARENTS TAUGHT ME ABOUT SEXUALITY "There were certain truths [my parents] impressed on me—some implicit and some explicit—that were crucial for catching a Christ-centered vision of sexuality. Five stand out most brightly when I reflect on the past 18 years."
HEALTHY MARRIAGES REMAIN A PUBLIC GOOD The Province newspaper put it this way, "The research shows that healthy marriages remain a public good. They provide stability and structure that allow for the development of aspirations and the flourishing of family members. They provide stability for raising children. A growing consensus in the research shows that healthy marriages even offer increased health for the individual members, physically and mentally."
INTERVARSITY AND THE REVISIONIST HOPE FOR A PLACE AT THE TABLE InterVarsity made headlines this week for requiring their staff to affirm the historic Christian position that all sexual expression is reserved for male-female marriage. As the Sexual Revolution wreaks havoc in the lives of people around us, Christians have the opportunity to proclaim the Scripture’s moral clarity–not as a barrier to the faith, but as the beacon of light in a morally chaotic world. To be faithful in this time, the Church must be a haven of hope, a refuge in the midst of sexual chaos. We won’t be able to do that if we think the way forward is “agreeing to disagree.”
TRANSGENDER SURGERY ISN'T THE SOLUTION The pioneer of sex-reassignment surgeries at Johns Hopkins University now advocates against the surgeries as his research shows that it does more harm than good. "At the heart of the problem is confusion over the nature of the transgendered. "Sex change" is biologically impossible. People who undergo sex-reassignment surgery do not change from men to women or vice versa. Rather, they become feminized men or masculinized women. Claiming that this is civil-rights matter and encouraging surgical intervention is in reality to collaborate with and promote a mental disorder."
TWO WAYS THAT EVANGELICALS HAVE FAILED WOMEN "The biblical admonition (against women preaching) has led too often to extrabiblical limitations on women, as well as unbiblical oppression... This kind of failure toward women—unjustly imposed limitations on their personhood and soul equality—has sometimes led to a secondary failure: the failure to see and tell women’s stories clearly, truthfully, and well."
20 QUOTES FROM A NEW BOOK ON SEXUAL IDENTITY Like no generation before, ours defines our identity by sexual identity. 20 quotes from Rosaria Butterfield’s excellent new book Openness Unhindered: Further Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert on Sexual Identity and Union with Christ (available in our resource library) challenges this new notion.
10 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE BIBLE'S TEACHING ON MEN AND WOMEN This post is by Andreas J. Köstenberger and Margaret Elizabeth Köstenberger, authors of God's Design for Man and Woman: A Biblical-Theological Survey.
